The South

By Jeremy Kendrick

A place where the grass grows green
A place where the air smells so clean

They say here that life moves ever so slow
Yet it’s become my favorite way to flow

Somewhere where you’re always met with a smile
Somewhere where you’ll want to kick your feet up and stay for a while

I can tell you exactly where I’m heading
A land where the energy is worth spreading

Here the drinks pour strong
Here it feels like you can do no wrong

It’s just beneath where the Ohio River flows
It’s where you’ll want to feel the earth beneath your toes

It’s where even a stranger can become a friend
It’s where the rolling hills never seem to end

Just as sweet as it sounds coming from your mouth
This land I speak so fondly of, they call it the south
