That Road They Never Took
I find it all to myself, these miles and miles on end.
Across this great and powerful city, I’m the only one who left my shiny box to find that everlasting, familiar friend.
No matter how beautiful, now matter how breathtaking,
No matter if Mother Earth were here in person telling you all of this was here for you …all of her making.
Regardless how perfect and regardless how captivating,
I find myself here alone …wondering why everyone else is waiting.
It’s not a noise that they cannot hear,
It’s not a secret that comes only to disappear.
What if I told them pure paradise is just around the corner, and they’re not even here.
It’s when you start to gaze just beyond where they told you to look,
It’s when you travel down that road they never took.
It’s these places that always will be and always have been,
It’s these places that though they bring you to your knees …few have ever been.
