Completely Up to Me
I watch the sky around us begin to cloud with smog
And feel the sorrow of the world try to fill my mind with a fog.
But for now, come with me for a simple jog,
Watch how that Ohio river carries away with it every branch and every log.
Up here, for just a minute I remember to see that which I’ve been looking for all along,
That simple reminder to myself that no matter what, this is exactly where I belong.
No matter how far I may go and how long I may travel, it’s only Kentucky –
Just like that I’m reminded of the man I’ve become and how a shot at each new day as me, makes me the ever most lucky.
How can one look around and not think to themselves, my god this world is so big.
From across the globe down to this single branch and twig.
Come to find out, nobody is waiting on me,
And I suppose that’s the problem with my power – it’s all completely up to me.
