Against My Skyline
Soaring like an eagle above my city,
I look down on her and her wonders,
And my god is she so pretty.
As children take their picture against my skyline
I remember that here, life is truly sublime
To them, they wonder what it’s like to be here
To them, they’re happy just to be near
To me, this is home, something so beautiful to truly revere
At the end of the day, she is a pinnacle
Something so entrancing, it should be criminal
My god this city and how she glows
For what is a day before the rooster crows
For what was this moment before the Mother heard my woes
Besides this I know no other bliss
Besides this, I simply know no other this
Out here amongst the city there’s such a space
If you ask me, there’s no other place
