A Day Among the Sunflowers

By Jeremy Kendrick

A day among the sunflowers
So gracious, so flawless with their otherworldly powers

A day among those closest to you
Helping you see things so pure in every hue

And to this feeling I feel myself glued
A heart is filled with such gratitude

I look over and across this field
Letting down my armor, shedding my shield
As for each moment, further from reality I am peeled
Leaving any heartache so perfectly healed

A mother’s love, a sister’s companionship
The kind of bonds you wouldn’t want to skip

As to how I got so lucky, I may never know
But my gratefulness I hope to forever show

As I feel against my face that summer breeze
I’m reminded that nothing compares to moments like these
Nothing compares to moments like this where I find myself at such ease
