The Snow

By Jeremy Kendrick

The snow begins to fall
As the wind brushes up against each wall

Step outside and hear the world come to a pause
Sometimes I wish it were this way just because

That silence and that stillness
That feeling of the winter and her chillness

Life outside these walls has come to a halt
Nothing to need, nothing of fault

Even here in the city, there’s peace and there’s quiet
My god this feeling, so calm and yet such a riot

Watch the snow and how graciously she falls
Knowing there’s nothing more real than when Mother Earth comes and calls
Telling us to be still for just a moment within our walls
Glide yourself amongst the place you call home, feeling tranquility within your halls

There’s something so pure about moments like this
Something so pure you wouldn’t want to miss

Out here in days like this, all you hear is the breeze
Days like today, I’m filled with such ease
