Life is for the Living

By Jeremy Kendrick

They call this a utopia
How can we not be sure that it’s not a dystopia

For all I know is you and me
Yet I wonder what I have left to see

Sometimes my mind it begins to wonder
What else is there that lies there under

They say life is for the living
But what more should I be giving

It’s just the moment I have here and now
And yet I wonder, why me, where’s the wow?

I’ll take it one breath at a time
Remembering that one breath at a time is never a crime

Rest easy my sweet child
For life is for the simple, but also for the wild
