The Only One Here

By Jeremy Kendrick

In front of the masses I stand and I spread my wings,
My back strong and my heart exposed ready for whatever this moment brings.

But maybe I’m the one who’s a fool,
To think even a single one of them would be looking here – as if it’s just me that feels Mother Earth’s pull.

For atop this almighty Ohio along Louisville’s vivacious Belvedere,
You’ll find as usual …I’m the only one here.

In this moment I wouldn’t trade all the riches of the world for anything but this perfect now,
And for that I find myself praising Mother God – for as far as how I got this lucky, I’ll never know how.
