Momma, I’m Not a Kid Anymore

By Jeremy Kendrick

Here we dance, here we sing
Here we are everything life can bring

Tell us we aren’t able
I’ll tell you of everything were capable

Take me to where the buildings reach towards the sky
That sight that always gets me so high

Here we are today, reaching out to the gods that be
Screaming out unto the universe, we will live free

Momma, I’m not a kid anymore
At this point, I’m just trying to keep my feet on the floor
Because just like that, I discovered that like the great white heron, I can soar

This life isn’t for the faint of heart
But wait long enough, you’ll see it’s a perfect work of art

Everyday, while I keep on trying
Rest assured, I keep on flying
