A Sweet, Little Taste

By Jeremy Kendrick

Whip, whip, whip and wind
Leaving home behind

To the power of the city each of us funnel
Flying past every exit, blazing under every tunnel

Until I see the buildings touch the sky, I won’t be satisfied
For there, life is just as powerful as they implied

Where money, power and fame come to play
Digging their claws into each of us as their prey

I’m headed there with such haste
Just to get a sweet, little taste
