Something About Life in the States

By Jeremy Kendrick

There’s something about life in the states
That feeling that we’re all one of the greats

Sure we have our flaws
Yet we’re still arrogant just because
Climbing up every day by the grasp of our claws

Are we better than the rest of you?
They say no, but is that true?
We’ll argue till in the face we’re blue

The states seem to thrive wherever she goes
And in the meantime, let us flaunt all of our egos

Here there’s such a sense of pride
Conceited in each and every stride

I can’t say I mind being a bit conceited
Living in a land to which none have seemed to have competed

No I didn’t say we’re perfect
Yet each of us seem to be so hand picked

Except the level of greatness around each of us
Know that alone, it’s a simple plus

Are we all pieces of shit?
Yes, honestly, quite a bit
And truly, I’ve become obsessed with it
Trust and believe, no time soon will we quit
