Nothing but an Open Road

By Jeremy Kendrick

Just a moment of peace, a moment of serenity
A moment where even I forget my own identity

Sometimes we need steps away from it all
Sometimes we need to feel that we cannot fall

Nothing but an open road
Out where life seems to have slowed

Miles and miles on end
Where a simple escape is such a close friend

Hop in your car and cross unfamiliar borders
Run, if only for a minute, from life’s everyday orders

There, take a deep breath for a minute
Let yourself relax, just for a little bit

I feel myself begin to decompress
I feel myself begin to release the stress

Don’t run from life, but remember to take a break
Create a moment where there’s nothing at stake

I take a breath in and I take a breath out
Helping me remember what life is really all about
